Services: Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.

Visitation: Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27th from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. also at the church.

Jean V. Herbert, 86, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully with her daughters at her side on June 23rd, 2014 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Funeral Services for Jean will be held on Friday, June 27th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Seth Dorn. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 27th from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

Jean Vivian was born the daughter of William and Laura (Abendroth) Gottschalk on November 29th, 1927 at home in the town of York Center, Wisconsin. She was a 1945 graduate of Waterloo High School. She married LeRoy Schwandt on January 10th, 1948, he passed away in 1956. On June 20th, 1959 she was married to James A. Herbert.

Jean had been employed in retail for many years, working at Woolworths, Newton-Wenz, Spurgeons and in the shoe department of Shopko. She was a faithful Christian woman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She was an active and faithful member of St. Stephen's Ev, Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, participating in Mission Aid and OWLS.

She deeply loved her children and grandchildren, and they adored her. She was a very big part of their lives. She loved attending their musical and sporting events. No one went hungry with Jean around. She was famous for making strawberry jam, biscuits, and always cocoa angel food cake for birthdays. She had a very active social life and enjoyed her HUGS group and visiting with friends and relatives. She had a way of making everyone feel important and loved.

Jean is survived by her daughters: JoAnn (Aaron) Klavekoske of Beaver Dam, Sue Sweet of Fairfax Station, VA, Kristy Schwandt of Beaver Dam and Debbie (Paul) Kaczmarski of Mount Carroll, IL; 12 grandchildren: Connor and Nicholas Klavekoske of Beaver Dam, Zachary, Natalie and Brittany Sweet of Fairfax Station, VA, Brad (Jenna) Kaczmarski of Tampa, FL, Jeff (Alison) Kaczmarski of Acworth, GA, Drew Kaczmarski of Mount Carroll, IL, Briana Stewart, Cara (fiance Long), Aaron, and Samuel Schwandt of League City, TX. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband LeRoy in 1956, second husband James in 2010, son Gary Schwandt, daughter-in-law Lisa Schwandt, son-in-law Matt Sweet, and brothers: Wesley and Kenneth Gottschalk.
